AI Can Create Content. It Can’t Replace True Expertise. ..lack of it still shows

There’s so much AI coming through all possible channels right now. It’s everywhere. Text, images, courses, slides, podcasts. Everything AI.

And as service providers, content creators, and people building digital products around our expertise, it’s easy to feel a bit unsettled by it.

For a few different reasons.

On one hand, it can feel like you’re lagging behind if you don’t know enough.
Things are moving fast. Really fast. Trying to stay on top of everything can feel overwhelming, like you should somehow keep up with all of it at once.

On the other hand, we’re also seeing a flood of AI-generated content that feels a bit soulless. And yes, it is competing for attention. For your clients. For their time. For their money.

So it’s completely natural that this raises the question. How am I supposed to compete with this?

We’ve Seen This Before, Just on a Smaller Scale


This actually feels very familiar.

When tools like ChatGPT and Claude first came out, the first thing that exploded was text content. Suddenly, everyone could write, and there was just a LOT of it. A lot of content that looked fine, but didn’t really say all that much.

Now the same thing is happening again, but across everything. The volume is incredible, and honestly, a lot of it is starting to look good.

But that brings up a more important question. Does it actually hold up?

Is it right for your people? Is it grounded in real understanding? Is it actually guiding someone somewhere, or just presenting information in a polished way?

When It Looks Right, But Isn’t


If you’re an expert in your field and you look at fully AI-generated content in your area, you’ll often notice it quite quickly.

Something feels slightly off.
The logic might not quite flow, or it jumps between ideas strangely. It can feel like a collection of facts rather than a clear process. It sounds right, but it doesn’t quite work in practice. If you didn't have the background information, you might fall for it yourself.
It might look polished, but it doesn’t create the kind of transformation people are actually looking for.
And this is where I think it’s important to say this out loud. Some of what you’re seeing is confidently wrong, and being sold anyway.

Not everything, of course. But enough that discernment now matters more than ever.

Why This Feels Like Competition, Even When It Isn’t


When you’re surrounded by this kind of content, it’s easy to feel like you need to keep up.
Like you should be creating more, faster, and more consistently.

And yes, some of that content does get attention.
But attention is not the same as trust, and it’s definitely not the same as real results.

So while it might look like you’re competing with people producing twenty AI-generated posts a day, if you're like most of my clients, you’re probably not even playing the same game. So not really a threat for being seen.

They are competing for attention. You are building something that people rely on.

What Still Matters, and Always Will


AI can generate content, but it cannot take responsibility for whether something actually works.
It cannot process knowledge through lived experience, understand nuance in a meaningful way, or guide someone through complexity with real context.

That part still belongs to you.

Your experience, your values, your mistakes, your pattern recognition and  your ability to simplify without oversimplifying are extremely important.
These and your understanding of your clients are what make your work actually work.

When you process your knowledge through all of that, it becomes richer and more grounded.
It becomes easier to connect with and easier to apply.
And honestly, it becomes more interesting, because it’s not just information. It’s perspective.

How to Use AI Without Losing Yourself in It


It can speed up your processes, help you brainstorm, organize your thinking, and even point out gaps or inconsistencies. It can help you explore different angles and analyze what’s working and what isn’t.

But it works best when it supports your thinking, not when it replaces it.

So the goal is not to use all the tools.
It’s to use them intentionally, in the right places, inside your own processes, in a way that strengthens what you already do well.

Because you still need to know how you work, how your business works, how your clients think, and what actually creates results. AI can’t decide that for you.

Why Human Connection Is Becoming More Valuable


Interestingly, as everything becomes easier to generate, the human side becomes more important.

People are starting to feel the difference.
They notice when something feels flat, generic, or disconnected. They might not always be able to explain it, but they can feel that something is missing.
What’s often missing is warmth, personality, presence, and real thought.

That’s why showing up as a human matters more now. Your voice, your face, your way of explaining things. Not perfection, but presence.

Even in courses, this shift is visible. Pure information is not enough anymore. People don’t just want knowledge. They want guidance, context, and connection.
That’s also why community spaces matter so much nowadays. They bring back the human element. They allow people to learn together, exchange experiences, and actually process what they are learning.

It Isn’t About Replacing AI. It’s About Using It Well.


The goal isn’t to step away from AI. Not at all.
It’s to use it in a way that actually makes you better at what you do.

Let it

  • support your process,
  • enrich your ideas, and
  • help you move faster where it makes sense.

But not at the cost of your voice.
Because your voice carries your experience, your values, your way of thinking, your tone, and your personality. And that is very easy to lose if everything becomes fully AI-generated.

So please keep your unique voice and use it liberally!
